GOOD to EAT
Offering local Farm foods
- ABOUT US -
Knight Farm Shop is a small family run business, lead by Emily & Luke Knight. Opened in January 2018 selling just its own meat and the few veg that were produced on the farm, we started out in the stable building of the barn, which was cosy but rather empty. Since the conversion of our 19th century barn in 2019, we are now stocking a vast array of local Devon products form a number of artisan producers, meaning that customers can experience the true taste of East Devon.
The shop is packed full of amazing items. It is still developing and welcomes suggestions from its valued customers.
The beef, lamb and pork are all reared on the farm. They only travel a few miles to Ottery to the local abattoir. Our animals do not get stressed, as the journey is short, much like when we are moving them to fields around our land. We produce quality meat straight off the farm - so you, as our customer, know exactly where your food comes from. You honestly can taste the difference. Our rare breed pigs are reared outdoors and we have our Lleyn sheep & South Devon cattle grazing on our pastures.
Within our produce garden, we grow an enormous range of seasonal items, including vegetables, salads, soft fruits and potatoes. What we cannot grow we source from trusted local suppliers. Emily makes a colourful mix of traditional and new preserves from our produce. These items are exclusive to the shop and are so popular that they sell out, fast! All are natural with no preservatives, meaning that the flavours are exquisite. Our farm shop works hard to reduce waste and produce that isn't sold is turned in to other delicious delights. Items such as our Runner Bean Relish is limited, as we can only make it when the beans are in season. We are a real farm shop with a passion, creativity and love for the countryside.
Local is our motto and as well as our unique pheasant feather and cartridge Hat Pins, we stock a beautiful range of local Devon produce from the beautiful handmade gifts by Lufi, to the most beautiful 'plastic free' Shampoos and soaps from
The Natural Spa in Aylesbeare and Cheese from prestigious Quickes. We are finding more local gems and the shop is growing and adapting to demand.
Knights Farm Shop also offers support to Knights Care Farm LLP, The adult and young service users here, learn how to care for farm animals and to also learn the processes involved in producing quality fruit and vegetables. It is a wonderful way to keep active, provide alternative education and is very therapeutic. We are proud to support such a lovely project.
